Europe moves to a multi-license model in online entertainment
An analysis by the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has revealed that a multi-license approach to managing online gambling is already being applied in 23 out of 31 European countries, allowing companies with various ownership forms to enter the market.
In four other countries, a hybrid model is used where competition is limited to certain segments of online entertainment. For instance, in Hungary and Slovenia, there remains a monopoly on sports betting, while in Austria and Poland, it is on casinos and poker. There are also specific restrictions in countries like Cyprus and Finland, limiting access to certain types of gambling games.
