Hip-hop artist from Louisville killed in ambush at Indiana casino
The suspects had been waiting for Williams and stole a car during the getaway
Surveillance footage from the casino showed a dark-colored car following Williams and his entourage to the parking lot, remaining in place with no one entering or exiting the vehicle while Williams spent three hours inside the casino.
When Williams approached his car to leave, two individuals wearing masks and gloves emerged from the dark car. Police claim they were armed with rifles. According to Sheriff Nika Smith of Harrison County, Williams attempted to flee, but the two men cornered him and shot him.
Williams succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities report that one of the suspects fled in Williams' car—a silver-black 2013 Dodge Charger. Police are currently searching for the vehicle. Descriptions of the suspects are not available at this time.
According to police, there had never been a fatal shooting at the Caesars Southern Indiana hotel before. Smith says Williams was the target of the murder, not a sign of greater danger at the facility.
"It was a singular incident where a person was targeted, tracked, and executed," Sheriff Smith told reporters.
Victim leaves behind wife and young daughter
Family members have not speculated on any obvious motives for the killing. They noted that Williams worked full-time at the Ford factory in Louisville while continuing his music career. He leaves behind his wife, Rannisha, and six-year-old daughter.
"He was a good man, a good father," Williams' wife said at a press conference. "He was hardworking. He didn't deserve this. We have a six-year-old daughter, and now I have to prepare her for not seeing him anymore."
Williams actively promoted himself as a musician on social media. He dedicated Young Block channels on Facebook, Spotify, Instagram, and YouTube, and had previously released the album "Up 1" on Spotify and Apple Music. Family members said Williams was preparing to release a new album soon.
Caesars Southern Indiana is located in Elizabeth, near the Ohio River and Louisville. The resort opened in 1998 and was formerly known as the Horseshoe Southern Indiana. For much of its existence, the establishment operated as a riverboat casino, but in 2019, it was replaced with a land-based casino.
